Optical Motion Tracking
The Optical Motion Tracking (OMT) series is designed to detect object’s movement in a wide working range of 80mm to infinity. With OMT sensors continuous x and y motion reporting, it is most suitable to be used for Drone stabilization to offset the impact of unwanted motion to achieve Drone stability. OMT is also being exploited in robot applications for far field position tracking.
The conventional gyroscope sensors that are found on nearly every drones may offer great motion detection based on the objects’ acceleration. They are capable of reporting movement status based on the change to the objects’ flying speed or tilt angles. However, when a drone experiences minor shift from strong wind or engine abnormality at constant speed, its gyroscope sensor may fail to identify the relative movements - this is when the drone stabilizing OMT sensors will add value as it is able to detect minor movement at constant speed.
PixArt’s OMT product utilizes our core image sensor technology to continuously capture, identify and report on an object’s relative x- and y-position to its finest details. Our OMT product is designed with low-power architecture that consumes as low as 6mA current, yet delivers a report rate of as high as 126 fps for the ultimate accuracy and real-time response capability. Our OMT product PAW3903E1 has the world’s smallest form factor which not only facilitate further mechanical designs, but could significantly lighten the object in weight-critical applications (such as drone). Along with the product’s superior low-light performance that could detect 9 lux or more light, our OMT series is endeavored to offer the world’s best stabilizing mechanism anywhere, any time.
