Optical Tracking Sensor

The Optical Tracking Sensor (OTS) is an exciting product family of PixArt, enabling advanced sensing across a wide range of applications. With strong surface detection capabilities, PixArt’s OTS solutions have been widely deployed in printing systems, digital rotary tracking, smart device control, and robot navigation, helping improve overall system performance and output quality.

To address the distinct sensing requirements of different applications, PixArt categorizes its OTS portfolio into four core focus areas: high accuracy, high speed, low power consumption, and broad surface adaptability. 

For instance, printers utilizing the accuracy-focused OTS products (PMJ9100S1 & PAT9102DM-T4QU) allow users to benefit from the precise paper alignment required for professional business printing (with a lowest error rate of ±0.015mm over a 25mm travel distance). Printers built for high-speed printing can leverage our high-speed OTS products (PMT9101DM-T2QU & PAT9130EW-TKMT) to reach speeds of up to 150ips, while simultaneously detecting paper edges, materials, and images.

Our small form factor, low-power models (PAT9125EL-TKMT/TKIT & PAT9126JA-TKIT), designed to play a core role in consumer applications, are capable of delivering a high resolution of up to 2000cpi with merely 0.5mA of current consumption. In the realm of surface tracking, we recognize how important and challenging it could be for service robots to accurately detect and differentiate various surface materials while in motion. To address this, we developed PAA5100JE-Q and PAA5101EW-M to support broad surface detection coverage, including carpets, granite, tiles, wooden floors, and highly glossy tiles.
