Barcode & QR Code Scanning
In industrial automation lines, logistics sorting, handheld scanners, vending machines, and machine vision inspection, barcode scanning devices must read items or packages while in motion—posing significant challenges to image stability and reading accuracy. These applications demand sensors with high resolution, excellent signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), wide dynamic range, and strong low-light performance. To track and accurately read fast-moving barcodes in low-light conditions, scanning sensors require high-sensitivity pixel designs and frame rates of 120 fps or higher.
Integrating PixArt's CMOS Global Shutter Image Sensors into scanning devices enables precise capture of barcodes and QR codes, even when targets move at high speed. Unlike Rolling Shutter sensors, Global Shutter technology exposes all pixels simultaneously, maintaining correct proportions of barcode lines and QR code modules at all times. This improves decoding speed and success rates, making it especially critical for high-speed conveyor belts or rapid handheld scanning, and significantly reduces read failures caused by motion blur.
PixArt's Global Shutter sensors—offering clear imaging, high sensitivity, and low power consumption—are the core technology for next-generation smart scanning and machine vision systems. Their efficient readout architecture, intelligent power management, and region-of-interest imaging enable low-power operation, extending battery life in handheld and automated devices while minimizing heat generation. At the same time, they deliver fast, stable, and accurate recognition. This technology is particularly well-suited for portable scanners, mobile payment terminals (POS), and battery-powered IoT scanning modules, achieving an optimal balance between performance and energy efficiency.
